FAQ's

Is Acupuncture right for me?

Chances are good that acupuncture has something to offer you. Acupuncture works by correcting the imbalances that cause disease and by stimulating your body’s natural healing mechanisms.  Acupuncture can improve your quality of life by boosting energy, enhancing mood and facilitating sleep. Acupuncture is effective for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Many people are uncomfortable with Acupuncture because of a fear of needles. However, Acupuncture needles bear little resemblance to the needles used by medical doctors. Acupuncture needles are about as thick as a hair and are flexible enough you can tie a knot with them. Since needles are so thin, the experience of being needled is totally unique and rarely painful.  Sometimes you'll feel a small pinch, but mostly you won't feel anything at all. Certain points can be more sensitive than others.

Where do you place the needles?

The majority of acupuncture points lie on the periphery of the body; the back, arms and legs. Sometimes, needles are placed near a problem area and sometimes it's placed in a totally different place.

Is Acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is very safe when performed by a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.).

How often do I have to come for treatments?

The answer to this question depends entirely on the individual. You will discuss your treatment with your practitioner and together create a plan that balances best practices with your schedule and lifestyle. In general, chronic, long-term conditions take longer to resolve then acute conditions that recently appeared. Acupuncture can start to work immediately, however, often takes several visits before the fullest effects are felt.

How long are appointments?

Your first appointment can last from 1 to 1.5 hours. Follow-up visits usually last 30 minutes to an hour.

Do you accept Insurance?

Acupuncture place does not accept insurance, however, receipts can be provided for you to submit to your  insurance provider for reimbursement of covered services.

What is Community Acupuncture?
